Mr. Watzky is a founder and Managing Partner of BP Energy Partners and its affiliates. He is based in New York. Mr. Watzky has over 20 years of private equity experience in energy sector investments that include oil and gas, merchant power, oil and gas services and unconventional oil and gas. As a Manager Partner of BP Energy Partners, Mr. Watzky is responsible for co-managing investment activities of BP Energy Partners and its affiliates, including deal sourcing, leading negotiations, structuring and executing transactions, and working closely with management teams while serving as a board member of portfolio companies. Prior to founding BP Energy Partners from 2002 through September 2012, Mr. Watzky was a Partner at MatlinPatterson, a private equity investment firm. From 1997 to 2002, Mr. Watzky was a Director at Credit Suisse First Boston (CSFB). Prior to CSFB, he was Partner at the Serfimex Group in Mexico City. He began his career as a CPA at KPMG. He received a B.A. in Accounting from the State University of New York-Albany in Albany, New York.
Mr. Szewczyk is a founder and Managing Partner of BP Energy Partners and its affiliates. He is based in Dallas, Texas. Mr. Szewczyk is focused on co-managing the investment activities of BP Energy Partners and its affiliates, including deal sourcing and evaluation, structuring, transaction execution and setting strategic direction for BP Energy Partners and its affiliated investment entities. Mr. Szewczyk has extensive relationships in the oil and gas industry that he utilizes for sourcing investments opportunities and creating equity value within portfolio companies. Immediately prior to founding BP Energy Partners, Mr. Szewczyk served as Co-Manager of BP Capital's Equity Fund and was a member pf BP Capital's Investment Committee for 13 years. He was responsible for managing energy-related private equity investments for Boone Pickens and BP Capital. Mr. Szewczyk received a B.A. in economics from Hartwick College in Oneonta, New York and an M.B.A. from the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.
Mr. Robertson has direct investing experience across the energy landscape including power, upstream oil and gas, midstream and energy related verticals. At BP Energy Partners, he is responsible for transaction sourcing, due diligence, deal structuring, execution and portfolio company oversight. Mr. Robertson is actively involved with the management of portfolio companies and currently serves as director for Mesa Natural Gas Solutions, Pinnacle Midstream and Blue Roads Solutions. Prior to the launch of Bp Energy Partners in 2014, Mr. Robertson spent six years as a Managing Director in BP Capital's private investment group and was a member of BP Capital's Investment Committee. He originated and led multiple acquisitions and divestures in the power space during his tenure at BP Capital and was responsible for the development of renewable power projects, including over 1,000 MW of wind power. In addition, Mr. Robertson was responsible for the development of traditional power projects across North America, Latin America and the Caribbean. Prior to 2008, he was a member of the assurance and advisory practice at Ernst & Young LLP. Mr. Robertson received a M.S. in Finance and a B.B.A. in Accounting both from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. He is licensed as a CPA in the State of Texas.
Michael Dean joined HabourVest in 2014 and focuses on real assets investments, including energy, infrastructure, real estate, and natural resources. He currently serves on a number of boards and advisory boards of companies and partnerships, including those managed by 1901 Partners, Arroyo Energy, The Blackstone Group, BP Energy Partners, The Carlyle Group, Crestline, LS Power, and W&T Offshore. Michael joined the Firm from Meketa Investment Group, where he served as the Head of Real Assets investing across the natural resources, infrastructure, and real estate sectors. His responsibilities included development of investment strategy and sourcing, evaluating, and executing fund and co-investment opportunities. Prior to that, he was Director of Investments at real estate investment firm Ithecus Capital Group. Michael received a BBA from Baylor University in 1998 and speak conversational Spanish.
Scott Gromer is the President & CEO of Mesa Natural Gas Solutions, leading all operations in procurement, manufacturing, process development, engineering, leasing, sales and field operations/maintenance of industrial prime power electrical generator sets. Mesa has exceeded industry growth standards and propelled Mesa to become the largest provider of natural gas prime power electrical generator sets in North American oil and gas fields. Scott retired as a Major in the Wyoming Army National Guard. Spanning 23 plus years of military service, he held numerous leadership positions including two unit commands, three deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and served as the S-3, Operations Officer, of a High Mobility Rocket System (HIMARS) Field Artillery Battalion. Scott holds a Bachelor of Science degree from South Dakota State University and an MBA from Colorado State University. In addition, he has completed multiple Non-Commissioned Officer Courses and Commissioned Officer Courses in the United States Army. A husband and father of five children, Scott enjoys family time, sports and all types of outdoor activities
