Flare Mitigation

Flaring is one of the most pressing environmental and economic issues today. Oil production sites around the world flare approximately 140 billion cubic meters of natural gas each year, emitting more than 300 million tons of CO2 into the atmosphere.

As oil & gas producers search for ways to reduce emissions and utilize this wasted resource, Mesa has been at the forefront of the industry in providing a solution. The most flexible method of flare mitigation is to use the wasted gas to generate power on-site for artificial lift and other equipment, lowering costs for customers with existing diesel generation or line power. However, Mesa has also pioneered new ways to utilize power generated from flares. For example, Mesa is actively working on projects to push power back to the grid, generating additional revenue from electricity sales to utilities. Mesa generators have even been used for Digital Flare Mitigation, powering containers full of computer equipment for various data processing applications such as cryptocurrency mining and disease research.

In response to growing climate change-related risks and pressure from external and internal stakeholders alike, governments, development institutions, and energy companies around the world are taking significant steps towards the management and reduction of GHG and flaring emissions. Mesa can help improve your company’s GHG emissions intensity and overall environmental performance by reducing or eliminating flaring while increasing energy efficiency.
